Itinerary

Your Day One Departure begins by meeting at (this is a test) Boston’s Logan Airport. plane departs Logan’s Terminal E and arrives in Paris’s Charles de Gaulle Airport on the morning of Day Two. Your flight is approximately seven hours long and you will be served a fine dinner at takeoff and a pleasant breakfast before landing.

Upon gathering your luggage, you will be taken to a private coach for your ride to the charming Hotel Relais Saint-Sulpice situated on Paris’s Left Bank. Unpack and take in coffee at a nearby café until your group meets in the front lobby for the first Hemingway Tour—the Ernest Hemingway Montparnasse Guided Tour. This tour ends at approximately 4pm in which time you are free to enjoy your own Paris. Please feel free to have guide, Robert Wheeler, assist you in any way necessary.

Your Day Three begins in the downstairs breakfast room of the hotel. A meandering walk down to the River Seine will eventually place us in the grand courtyard of the Musee du Louvre where you will enjoy a three hour privately guided Highlight Tour. Upon completion of this tour, the group will make way to Hemingway’s Latin Quarter Guided Tour, which will commence with lunch at one of Hemingway’s many cafés. By 4pm, you will be set free until night settles and you board your coach for a privately guided Illumination Tour of the City of Light. Please remember as you either conclude your night or continue it, that your guide, Robert, is at your service.

Day Four begins at 7am sharp when you board a coach for your privately guided Normandy Day Tour. The coach will stop along the way to Normandy for a quick breakfast before continuing on to the first stop, which is the Normandy Museum. There you will watch a riveting movie—a split screen film depicting Allied offensive planning and German defensive preparations. This will set the scene perfectly for the sights you will see throughout the day. After having lunch on Omaha Beach, and after your personal time walking on its vast sands, our final stop will be the poignant American Cemetery. Upon our return at 7pm, please feel free to join Robert for a debrief and a toast to Hemingway at the Hemingway Bar in the Ritz on the Right Bank.

On Day Five, you will truly know your way about the city and we will, therefore, meet at the Notre Dame Cathedral for Sunday Mass as spectators—or, if you wish, as a participant. By mid-morning, we will cross the River Seine and peruse the bookshelves of Shakespeare & Company. After marveling at this truly unique bookstore, we will begin our walk along the Seine toward the Musee d’Orsay to view the Cezanne’s that so inspired the young Hemingway. Free time to explore your Paris begins anytime your cup is full at the d’Orsay and continues until our group dinner at Paris’s historic and pleasant Au Vieux Paris Arcole.

After breakfast on Day Six, the group will take in Hemingway’s Right Bank Guided Tour. This tour will end up at the Musee Picasso where you will wrap your mind around the man behind Cubism. Venture out for lunch on your own…just be prepared later in the evening for a dazzling and entertaining Dinner/Wine Cruise along the Seine.

Our final Day Seven begins perfectly with breakfast in the hotel and then a brisk walk to the Jardin du Luxembourg for a final farewell to Paris. By mid-morning, you will board your private coach for the ride back to Charles du Gaulle Airport and then it is on to your direct Air France flight back to Boston.
